Pre-Conference | Friday, June 1*
In this pre-conference we will overview basic exercise physiology, the role of intensity, recovery principals, overtraining syndrome, and nutrition for health and performance. Next we will compare the injured runner with the efficient/un-injured runner in tissue specificity, anatomy, biomechanics and clinical evaluation of mobility and strength. Finally, we will evaluate hydration, heat and hyponatremia in endurance runners and conclude with a clinical perspective to evaluate gait. Following the running clinic, participants should be able to:
- Explain basic exercise physiology and running training terminology
- Describe the nutritional requirements for runners
- Employ several techniques to improve kinetics and performance and decrease injuries in runners
*The pre-conference clinic will be held at the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic on Friday, June 1st.
